The times they’ve seen! The BDA’s film crew has commemorated dozens of Brighton events and has captured our hearts with their drama (the 1973 Tornado) or their whimsy (Presqu’ile, 1927). And in recent times, we see the town’s adaptability borne out of a pandemic necessity (Virtual Canada Day, 2020).
And oh! what stories our long-standing residents have to tell! The crew takes great care to help them reflect on their lives in Brighton, prepare for the camera, and share their observations for the Brighton I Remember series.
We hear of the many changes over the decades to our social, commercial, agricultural and educational systems. Much of the land itself has changed, and yet not all of the landscapes of Brighton life are altered: from our service clubs to the games we play to places that remain much loved, there is continuity.
The individuals, the families, the relationships are at the centre of town – and country – life, and are the throughlines that preserve our history, one reel at a time.
And do put your feet up: there are 40 to choose from!
